Requirements: In order to register in an official Master's Degree, it is mandatory to have completed an official degree in Spain or in any higher education institution of a member state of the European Union integrated in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that allows students to take a Master's Degree. Students who have obtained their degree outside the EHEA can be admitted as long as the University can verify that these qualifications have a similar level to the corresponding degrees in Spain and they permit graduates to take a Master's Course.
This Master's course is intended for Graduates in Geology, although degrees with a high geological content such as Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Urban Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Marine Science or Geography will also be taken into account. In such cases, students will have to take the following credits of complementary subjects to complete their training or accredit them: Geological Mapping (6 ECTS), Crystallography and Mineralogy (4 ECTS), Global Dynamics and Structural Geology (4 ECTS), Geomorphology (4 ECTS), Stratigraphy (4 ECTS), Palaeontology (4 ECTS), Petrology and Geochemistry (4 ECTS).

Professional opportunities: This Master's Degree trains professionals and researchers theoretically and practically to provide them with the competences, skills and capacities to assess, produce and use all type of geological information. It provides students with different knowledge concerning the geological environment in a wide range of socioeconomic fields such as infrastructures, exploration and exploitation of geological resources, the environment, geological hazards, geological heritage, development cooperation, education and research, etc. This is a formative Master that allows students to acquire the necessary knowledge, prepares high skilled professionals and deals with the necessary topics to get started in the field of research. Graduates will be professionals that will have acquired an applied, comprehensive and multidisciplinary knowledge in the field of Earth Sciences. After completion of the course, graduates will have acquired the professional skills they need in order to work in the fields related to Geological Resources and Geological Engineering or to start research.
Syllabus:
Course content 90 ECTS:
Students taking the full-time course will take the core and compulsory subjects (39 ECTS) and the optional modules (24 ECTS) during the first two terms (September-July) to complete a minimum of 60 ECTS. In the third term, students will take an optional subject from the modules chosen (3 ECTS) and an optional subject (3 ECTS) from all the subjects offered, as well as the internship (6 ECTS) and the Master's Thesis (18 ECTS). The Master's Thesis will be supervised by one or more professors participating in the programme and will be developed in collaboration with the companies or in research projects carried out by professors of the Master's Course.
